Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Juniata County Criminal History, the reasons it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which it may reach another service. It also explains the difference between data handled by this privately operated resource and public records maintained by Pennsylvania or Juniata County agencies. Continued use of the website signifies acceptance of the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered into a search tool is delivered to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Juniata County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained so that a response can be prepared and the exchange can be managed. Messages are not shared beyond our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Basic technical information may be recorded when a visitor loads a page, including:

  • The device's internet protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when available
  • The date and time of each request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show how people move through the website, which pages receive traffic, and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine this activity into broader usage reports. A visitor can block or remove cookies through browser controls, although doing so may change how some website functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

Information collected through ordinary website operation may be used for these purposes:

  • Operating the website and improving page speed
  • Routing a submitted query to the appropriate search provider
  • Measuring which material visitors use
  • Finding and correcting performance or technical problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Juniata County Criminal History does not own, maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It identifies official access points such as the Juniata County Clerk of Courts, Juniata County Sheriff's Office, Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository and PATCH, Unified Judicial System portal, and Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Website. Government custodians control the original records and their release.

Pennsylvania's Criminal History Record Information Act, 18 Pa.C.S. §§ 9101-9183, governs the collection, dissemination, completeness, security, and expungement of criminal-history record information held within the state system. The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. §§ 67.101-67.3104, addresses access to qualifying government records. Neither law makes this private website the custodian of a Juniata County criminal file. We are not a consumer reporting agency, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or profiles about third parties.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search tools displayed on the website. Data entered into one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider determines its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Visitors should review those terms before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Juniata County offices, Pennsylvania courts and agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the receiving website controls that visit and applies its own privacy practices. Its policy should be read before any personal information is provided.

Advertising companies may also use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on the advertising provider's systems and is subject to its controls.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be available to:

  • Outside search providers receiving a query submitted through their tool
  • Analytics vendors measuring website use and performance
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the website
  • Government or law-enforcement authorities responding to a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under our control. No internet service or storage method can be guaranteed to resist every failure or unauthorized act. We work to protect collected data, but cannot promise that a security incident will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults. Personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it promptly after the matter is brought to our attention.

Your Data Rights

Rights concerning personal data depend on a visitor's residence and the law that applies. Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law concerns access to qualifying records held by government agencies, while CHRIA governs criminal-history record information within the Pennsylvania system. Neither statute creates a general private-website privacy right merely because the website discusses public records.

Where applicable law grants the right, a visitor may:

  • Request a copy of personal information held about that visitor
  • Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
  • Seek deletion of personal information
  • Object to or opt out of certain processing

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be revised as website practices or legal requirements change. A revised policy will appear on this page, and the effective date will be updated so visitors can identify the current version.
